SPX Flow is teaming up with Siemens to highlight the transformative potential of digital twin technology at the MxD (Manufacturing x Digital) innovation center in Chicago, USA.
As a premier hub for advanced manufacturing, MxD is at the forefront of industry advancements in sectors such as food and beverage, chemicals, and batteries. At this cutting-edge facility, SPX Flow and Siemens are demonstrating the power of digital twins, enhanced by industrial 5G connectivity and modular production concepts using software-defined Module Type Package (MTP) technology. The showcase features an automated mixing tank paired with a digital twin, providing a real-time virtual replica of the physical system.
This collaboration integrates SPX Flow’s expertise in fluid processing solutions—including mixers, pumps, and valves—with Siemens’ IoT connectivity solutions and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation capabilities. The digital twin allows manufacturers to design, test, and optimize fluid systems virtually, reducing risks, improving efficiency, and accelerating innovation.
By leveraging Siemens’ virtual simulation technologies, SPX Flow is demonstrating how a digital twin of a flexible, autonomous production process can revolutionize manufacturing. Unlike traditional fixed production lines, this approach optimizes production, validates throughput, and enhances efficiency and flexibility. Additionally, Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) navigate the plant, ensuring continuous mixing and maintaining peak production capacity and quality.
“Our innovative fluid technologies, combined with simulation-based digital twins and AI-driven modeling, enable us to deliver faster, customer-focused solutions,” said Tyrone Jeffers, Vice President of Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain at SPX Flow. “Together with Siemens, we are prioritizing flexibility, efficiency, and sustainability, paving the way for a new era of manufacturing excellence.”
“This collaboration is a significant win for both companies and, more importantly, for our industrial customers,” said Del Costy, Managing Director, Americas, Siemens Digital Industries Software. “By harnessing the power of live connections between the physical and digital worlds, we are helping customers accelerate time to market, optimize system performance, reduce costs and resource consumption, and deliver tailored, application-specific solutions.”
Through this partnership, SPX Flow and Siemens are setting new standards in digital transformation, enabling manufacturers to embrace smarter, more sustainable, and more efficient production processes.
