FLSmidth Secures Major Order for Tower Mills, Pumps, and Cyclones at Indian Iron Ore Plant

FLSmidth has been selected to supply 18 of the largest steel media tower mills, along with pumps and cyclones, for one of the world’s most advanced iron ore beneficiation plants in India.

Key Equipment & Project Scope

The order, placed by a long-standing Indian mining client, includes:

  • 18 FTM-5000 vertical tower mills, designed for secondary and tertiary grinding circuits, positioned downstream from two of the largest high-pressure grinding rolls (HPGRs), also supplied by FLSmidth in 2024.
  • 30 Krebs UMD pumps and 18 Krebs gMAX hydrocyclones, completing the secondary and tertiary grinding circuits.
  • India’s largest known slurry pumps, marking a milestone in Indian mining operations.

Efficiency & Sustainability Gains

This project integrates high-efficiency HPGRs with vertical tower mills, significantly reducing energy, water, and grinding media consumption across the processing flow.

Installation Timeline

The equipment is scheduled for installation and commissioning in 2026/2027.

FLSmidth CEO’s Statement

Mikko Keto, CEO of FLSmidth, emphasized the strategic importance of this order, stating:

“This is a proud moment for the FLSmidth Mining team. The combination of upstream HPGRs and vertical tower mills will enable our customer to achieve optimal profitability while minimizing resource consumption.”

This order further solidifies FLSmidth’s position as a leading supplier of innovative mining solutions focused on efficiency and sustainability.
