ITT Inc’s Svanehoj Expands Gas Solutions with Acquisition of Germany’s Koho Kompressorsysteme

ITT Inc’s Svanehoj is strengthening its expertise in gas solutions through the acquisition of Germany’s Köhler & Hörter GmbH (Koho Kompressorsysteme), a family-owned company renowned for high-quality compressors across multiple industries, including shipbuilding.

In recent years, Svanehoj has broadened its presence as a supplier of marine pumps, tank control systems, and related service solutions. The addition of Koho Kompressorsysteme marks a strategic move into the gas segment, aligning with the ongoing growth of the global gas tanker market. Based in Hagen, Germany, Koho employs around 40 people and specializes in designing and manufacturing custom reciprocating compressor systems for hydrogen, hydrocarbons, and other demanding gas applications. Their portfolio also includes gastight bulkhead shaft penetrations for industrial and shipbuilding use.

“This acquisition represents a natural extension of Svanehoj’s capabilities in the gas tanker segment, where we have long provided cargo pump systems and integrated services to LPG- and LNG carriers,” said Søren Kringelholt Nielsen, CEO of Svanehoj. “By bringing Koho into the Svanehoj family, we can now offer high-quality compressors and spare parts to our customers. Their specialized expertise and attractive product portfolio, combined with Svanehoj’s and ITT’s strengths in supply chain and sales, open new growth opportunities and will strengthen our company for the future.”

This is Svanehoj’s second acquisition in 2025. In January, the company completed the purchase of European Pump Services BV, now Svanehoj EPS, a Dutch firm specializing in the integration and service of pump solutions for the industrial, offshore, and maritime sectors across the Benelux region.
