Lewa has expanded its micro-metering pump portfolio with the introduction of two new models, designed to give operators greater flexibility and efficiency in gas odorization applications.
Developed to meet the rising global demand for compact, high-precision dosing systems, the new pumps accommodate a broader range of flow and pressure requirements.
Odorization, the process of adding strong-smelling compounds to otherwise odorless gases, is essential for safety across industrial, commercial, and residential applications. Accurate metering ensures consistent dosing of odorants in gases such as natural gas, LPG, CNG, LNG, biogas, and hydrogen, enabling rapid leak detection and protecting people and property.
“Efficient odorization requires extremely precise dosing at very low quantities, making the correct match between pump capacity and discharge pressure crucial,” explained Walter Richter, Head of Sales Odorization & Gas Distribution at Lewa. “In many cases, pumps suitable for flow rate did not meet the necessary pressure, or vice versa—resulting in oversizing, increased costs, and reduced dosing accuracy. With our new MAH4 and MBH6 micro-metering pumps, featuring expanded piston sizes, operators can now choose from a wider range of flow and pressure combinations to achieve greater accuracy and cost-effectiveness.”
The new MAH4 and MBH6 models complement Lewa’s existing MAH, MBH, MLM15, and MLM40 series, covering flow rates from 10 ml/h to 55 l/h and pressures up to 560 barg. The 16-barg MAH4 is ideal for PN16 pressure class applications, while the 42-barg MBH6 offers a compact yet powerful solution for higher-pressure needs.
Richter added: “Achieving optimal performance and minimizing operating costs require a fully engineered, proven system. The MAH4 and MBH6 are not simply scaled-down versions of existing designs—they’ve undergone extensive field, cold, and pressure testing to ensure reliability, accuracy, and safety throughout their service life.”
