Atlas Copco to acquire Wangen Pumpen

Atlas Copco has agreed to acquire the German industrial pump manufacturer Pumpenfabrik Wangen GmbH from private equity firm Silverfleet Capital.

Headquartered in Wangen in the Allgäu region of Germany, Pumpenfabrik Wangen specialises in progressive cavity pumps used mainly in the biogas and wastewater sectors, and twin-screw pumps for food and beverage and cosmetics applications.

Pumpenfabrik Wangen has manufacturing facilities in Germany, a US subsidiary and a global sales and service footprint. The company employs 265 people and had 2020 revenues of approximately €46.4 million.

“Industrial pumps is a segment that we have identified as a strategic fit for Atlas Copco and Wangen Pumpen has leading differentiated technology with a strong aftermarket business,” said Andrew Walker, president of Atlas Copco’s Power Technique business area. “Wangen Pumpen is a strong brand and is known for quality in demanding industrial applications. This acquisition will create a solid foundation for further growth in new industrial pump segments.”

The acquired business will become part of the Power and Flow division within Atlas Copco’s Power Technique Business Area.

The deal is expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2022 and is subject to regulatory approvals.
