John Crane unveils Performance Plus to cut downtime and lift reliability

John Crane has introduced Performance Plus, a modular service framework designed to help industrial operators cut unplanned downtime, boost equipment reliability, and advance sustainability goals.

The company says Performance Plus marks a significant evolution in how it supports customers facing rising operational and environmental demands.

According to Deloitte, unplanned downtime costs manufacturers US$50 billion each year, with equipment failure accounting for over 40% of those losses. In response, John Crane is positioning Performance Plus as a comprehensive solution for smarter, safer, and more efficient plant operations.

“We are evolving from a supplier of components to a strategic partner in performance. The focus is on measurable outcomes, increased uptime, safer operations, and a lower emissions and total cost profile across the asset lifecycle,”
Philippe Lambert, Vice President, Commercial & Service, John Crane.

Performance Plus leverages John Crane’s global engineering footprint—more than 200 facilities across 50 countries—to deliver localized, tailored support. The framework integrates data-driven monitoring, engineering consultancy, and practical workforce training, helping operators strengthen resilience and reduce maintenance uncertainty.

A core feature is the company’s Seal Reliability Management contracts, long-term agreements built around continuous reliability improvement and proactive seal monitoring, ensuring more predictable maintenance.

The service model also builds on advanced diagnostics such as John Crane Sense Turbo, which has accumulated over one million hours of remote monitoring in real-world applications. These digital insights give specialists the ability to offer data-backed recommendations, streamlining maintenance planning and accelerating decision-making.

Lambert added:

“Industry servicing shouldn’t exist in silos. John Crane Performance Plus delivers an integrated, customer-centric approach that brings together smart technology, data insights, and human expertise to keep operations running smoothly, reliably, safely, and sustainably. That’s what service excellence looks like in the modern era.”
