Kirloskar Brothers showcases energy-efficient pumps at agricultural fair

Indian pump manufacturer Kirloskar Brothers Limited (KBL), recently exhibited its new generation of energy-efficient pumps for farmers at Kisan Mela 2022, India’s largest agricultural fair in Pune in the western Indian state of Maharashtra.

KBL’s newly unveiled new generation pumps for irrigation purposes are manufactured with advanced technology and consume less energy but maintain high performance. KBL has been helping farmers with its energy-efficient pumps for many years. Ms Rama Kirloskar, joint managing director, Kirloskar Brothers Ltd said: “With Kirloskar pumps, the efficiency remains constant for a long period of time and therefore there is no loss in efficiency as observed in the case of generic pumps in the market. Kirloskar pumps help to save energy and reduce farmers’ electricity bills by up to 20% compared to other pumps available in the market.”

The new generation Kirloskar pumps are energy-efficient and have lower and maintenance and lifecycle costs. The company’s submersible range of pumps is capable of drawing water from deep borewells which means farmers can use them even when the water table goes below a certain level.

In addition to its wide range of water filled submersibles, KBL also has an extensive range of oil filled submersibles which have advantages over water filled submersibles in industries that have problems with voltage fluctuation. KBL’s submersibles have one of the widest voltage bands ranging from 150–240 volts, ensuring resistance to motor burning due to these fluctuations. High class bearings used in the oil filled submersible pumps reduce wear and tear.

Unlike water filled submersibles, oil filled submersible pumps are suitable for both vertical and horizontal installation. When placed horizontally in a water tank they can almost empty the tank, preventing collection of sediment and stagnant water. In addition, while water-filled submersibles require frequent rewinding, oil-filled submersibles do not.

KBL’s water and oil filled submersible pumps also have an advanced sand-fighter design. When the pump fetches water from sandy borewells, the chances of sand being pumped along with the water is very high which reduces the efficiency of pumps and increases wear and tear of pump components. KBL’s advanced sand-fighting arrangement technology prevents sand from entering the pump, avoiding wear and tear and preventing pump jamming.
