FIRE SUPPRESSION

The importance of supervised monitoring modules used in control and monitoring of extinguishing systems

In many places from chemistry laboratories to industrial facilities, in order to ensure the safety of life and property against a possible fire hazard, extinguishing systems are used in addition to detection and alarm systems. It is also extremely important that the extinguishing systems installed can be triggered by the fire extinguishing control panel, in order to eliminate a possible fire with early intervention.

In order to meet these needs, and with 35 years of sectoral knowledge and experience, Mavili Elektronik offers:

  • Maxlogic Conventional Fire Extinguishing Control Panel operating according to the cross-zone detection principle;
  • Maxlogic Extinguishing Status Indicator Unit, which allows the remote performance of the indicators and controls on the Control Panel;
  • Maxlogic Extinguishing Output Expansion Panel;
  • Maxlogic Extinguishant Manual Release Button, which allows the extinguishing process to be started manually and remotely; and
  • to ensure that the extinguishing process can be paused, Maxlogic has produced the Extinguishant Emergency Stop Button.

All these devices are produced using surface-mount technology and are aimed at making the automation of the extinguishing system and fire and gas detection system perfect.

Mavili Elektronik develops its products by always considering the needs of the installation. In cases that require the integration of the extinguishing system with the intelligent addressable fire detection system, it provides solutions through the monitoring modules that also have a ‘supervised’ option.

Supervised monitoring modules play an important role in controlling the continuity of the cable connection between the loop and the extinguishing system. Failure to detect a possible open or short circuit in the wiring between the contact monitoring modules and the peripheral systems can cause disruption of the triggering, with potentially critical consequences. For this reason, when choosing monitoring modules, it should be taken into account that they have supervised features.

Since Maxlogic intelligent addressable fire detection and alarm control panels are constantly communicating with ‘supervise’ contact monitoring modules connected to cable loops and compliant with EN 54-17 and EN 54-18 standards, it makes it easier to monitor situations such as open circuits and short circuits that may occur in the system. Many tasks can be performed in the fire extinguishing installation, such as the control and monitoring of all valves that can interrupt the flow of water, water flow alarm switches, pressure switch, and electric or diesel fire pumps.

By adding two contact monitoring modules to two separate relay outputs located above the Maxlogic Conventional Fire Extinguishing Control Panel, one of the modules can be used to control errors and the other to control the fire situation, monitoring and control of the extinguishing system via an intelligent addressable fire detection and alarm system can be performed effectively.
