Metso has secured a significant equipment order from Mesabi Metallics for its iron ore project in the United States.

Metso has secured a €10 million order for beneficiation plant equipment, including pumps, from Mesabi Metallics for its direct-reduction (DR) grade iron ore plant in Nashwauk, Minnesota, USA. The Mesabi plant is crucial in ensuring the security of the DR-grade pellet supply chain in the US while contributing to the decarbonization of steel production.

In addition to flotation cells, Metso’s delivery will include slurry pumps, SC vacuum filters for dewatering iron concentrate, and low-intensity magnetic separators (LIMS) to recover magnetic material.

“The Concorde Cell flotation cells are a key part of the equipment delivery and play an essential role in ensuring optimal flotation performance for Nashwauk’s iron ore processing. These high-intensity flotation cells, as part of the Metso Plus offering, improve the selectivity of fine and ultrafine particles,” explained Martin Nevens, Director of Minerals Sales for North and Central America at Metso.
