Svanehøj to Supply CO2 Pumps for INEOS’s Project Greensand Facility and LCO2 Carrier

Svanehøj, a division of ITT, has been selected to provide CO2 pumps for INEOS’s onshore facility and the first LCO2 carrier supporting the groundbreaking Project Greensand in the Danish North Sea.

Project Greensand, led by INEOS, will be the European Union’s first full-scale CO2 storage facility, marking a significant step in carbon capture and storage (CCS) efforts to combat climate change. Following a successful trial phase, the project is expected to commence storage operations in late 2025 or early 2026.

INEOS recently partnered with maritime logistics company Royal Wagenborg under a long-term agreement to build and operate the first dedicated LCO2 carrier for the project. Svanehøj will supply specialized CO2 cargo pumps for this vessel and the onshore terminal at Port Esbjerg.

“We have collaborated closely with INEOS’s development team over the past year to design tailored pump solutions for both the onshore facility and the vessel,” said Magnus Madsen, Sales Manager, Cargo Gas, at Svanehøj. “This process has allowed us to apply our extensive expertise in CO2 handling and help optimize the design for flow and pressure efficiency.”

This strategically important contract strengthens Svanehøj’s position as a key player in the growing CCS industry.
