URU Metals has completed an updated three-dimensional geological model for its Zeb Nickel Project in Limpopo, South Africa, using the model to define, position and rank its next drilling programme.
The Leapfrog 3D modelling work was completed by Atticus Geoscience Consulting and integrates geological, drilling and geophysical information to provide a more detailed understanding of the mineralised system.
3D Model Integrates Geological and Geophysical Data
The completed model combines the project’s drill-hole database and geological interpretation with airborne magnetic, gravity and SpectremPlus electromagnetic datasets.
It also incorporates recently completed ground frequency-domain electromagnetic and gravity surveys, together with a three-dimensional mineralised envelope developed from existing drill-hole assay data.
The mineralised envelope covers Zone 2 nickel, copper and platinum-group-element (Ni-Cu-PGE) mineralisation at the project.
Model Supports Next Drilling Programme
The new model is being used to determine the location, orientation and priority of holes planned for the next drill programme.
The programme has two main objectives: to define a maiden mineral resource for the Zone 2 Ni-Cu-PGE mineralisation and to drill-test Target 1, identified as the project’s most prominent coincident geophysical anomaly.
The Zone 2 resource drilling will also test the down-dip extension of the known Ni-Cu-PGE mineralisation.
Improving Mineral Exploration Targeting
URU Metals said the modelling supports the interpretation of Zone 2 as a coherent and laterally continuous Ni-Cu-PGE horizon hosted within rocks interpreted to form part of the Critical Zone of the Bushveld Complex.
The mineralised envelope remains open down dip, providing additional areas for investigation as the company advances its exploration programme.
The use of integrated 3D geological and geophysical modelling is expected to help improve drill targeting and provide a more comprehensive understanding of the mineralised system.
URU Metals is focused on exploration and development of mineral projects, including the Zebediela Nickel Project in South Africa.
